Running and Fitness

I've owned Garmin fitness watches since their first running watches, and they're the class leader for a reason. Long bettery life, extensive metrics, and tools that are actually helpful like coaching programs and dynamic Suggested Workouts make this watch a winner for any athletic pursuit.

These aren't cheap and sound worse than typical earbuds, so why recommend them? Two words: sweat and traffic. These are the only headphones that have survived heavy rains and excessive sweat--they'll even work fine in the shower. They also keep your ears open, so you can hear traffic, or your running buddy or someone approaching from behind. I'll listen to audiobooks and podcasts during longer runs, and the 'pause' button on the left ear is nice for passing leaf blowers and lawnmowers.

Running can be tough on your feet, and after your first few miles, it's worth going to a 'real' running store and getting a proper fit since everyone's feet and gait are different. However, these socks are a great pairing for well-fitted running shoes, and do a god job minimizing blistering.

The bottle looks janky, but this is THE stuff to use for washing your running clothes. Other detergents use scents to mask any odors, but this stuff actually cleans out the odor. As someone who sweats excessively and leaves their workout clothing funkier than James Brown, this is the only thing I've found that doesn't leave any residual stink. The small-looking bottle also goes a long way, and will restore the coating on raincoats, etc.
